Speed vs. Tech Debt

Balancing speed whilst keeping an eye on technical debt is critical during MVP development. As a startup CTO, you'll have a lot on your plate, so it's tempting to go for a quick and easy solution every time.

However, keep in mind the time after your MVP is out there and takes off. Then, you'll have to grapple with the fallout of any technical debt you've accumulated. If you've chosen the quick and easy path all the way throughout development, you might have to spend considerable time revisiting your choices, slowing down you and your team.

It's helpful to designate a certain amount of time per week to reviewing any accumulated technical debt. This may seem counterintuitive and slow, especially for seed-stage startups, but it actually helps the team to sit down and review whether the tech debt can be paid down incrementally by some quick wins.
